Rather late in posting this trip update. Had my office offsite in Sangawan village in a desert resort called Desert trails very near to Jaipur. The resort happened to be a haven for birds ( being the only place with food and water I guess). This was early January and temperatures went sub zero at night.
I tried my 300mm f/2.8 for the first time. Here are the shots.
Never realized deserts usually have such rich variety of birds. A few shots in and around the place. A very productive 3 days :)

very nice collection
I've just been posted for a job in Samode (near Chomu) and have also been enjoying the wildlife there- particularly the birds.
Now that it's coming into really hot summer it's often easy to find them around any known sources of water.
I don't have your lens yet though- and I'm a bit jealous ;-)
