Birds in and around Hyderabad

I could manage some shots of the shining bright purple sunbirds. They were in a neighborhood which had plenty of trees

We went for an offsite near Shameerpet. Next to the resort, I had a chance to photograph a few field birds.

This is one of my favorites ( wish I had more light)

Can you notice the tongue of the woodpecker?

Near to the lake, we viewed an amazing scene of a pied kingfisher being static in air like a helicopter before swooping for the kill.

Brilliant photographs. What camera and lens did you use? Some of these birds like the house sparrow have all but disappeared now. Interestingly I noticed some in the new Shamshabad airport eating from the tables near the eateries and nesting in the ceiling. Many thanks for the pictures. Yawar Baig

Hey excellent work, its good to see all these birds in and around HYD. If you have any planned bird shoots outs do inform like minded enthusiasts. And the rufous bellied babbler looks more like jungle babbler from the photo, rufous is orange coloured with white chest as far as i know. please correct me if i am wrong.
